The weather today (and tomorrow) really doesn’t feel like spring, but lots of lovely, tender spring vegetables this week: baby spinach, lettuce, kale, radishes, salad turnips, and some early broccoli and cabbage. We will also have strawberries again, though no doubt not enough …

And, yes, we had hail last night at both the farm and our house. The biggest piece I found at the house came in at 3.5 ounces and well over 3″ in diameter. Fortunately, the big pieces were only occasional ones, so there was surprisingly little damage to plants from the hail. There are a few holes now in my high tunnel, but I needed to replace the plastic on it anyway so that’s not a big deal. All in all, the damage for us could easily have been much worse than it ended up being. — Sydney
